My Summer Shopping List
For the wardrobe, garden and home…
Mr. H and I have been on the hunt for a few items for the house and garden and after a lot of google searching and recommendations, we finally found what we were looking for. I managed to slip in a few extras for me too. Everything has arrived and is in situ…and we are happy with all our purchases. I love to share…
For gardening attire… I love this linen shirt. They are a pretty generous fit, which I like. Thumbs up for the white, green and pink colors. The price is right ($29.90)…they are my ‘go to’ garden shirt these days. I washed and ironed them a few times and they are holding up well.
With thanks to Elizabeth from Pine Cones and Acorns for putting me onto this Linen Kimono-Style Jacket on Etsy. I purchased it along with this Mandarin Collar Linen Shirt in raspberry. As I said…I love linen, for all occasions!
I have more aprons than I can count and that’s a good thing because I am always getting into one mess or another. I bought this apron from Swisselite for my gardening tools when I am clipping and snipping am so impressed by it I wear it all the time. It’s a steal at $12.99-seriously, this is a winner of a work apron!
If you like a handcrafted slip on leather shoe from Istanbul that molds to the shape of your foot …check out these shoes from Sabah. I bought the Summer Buck II and am already thinking which color I might purchase next.
I recently bought a lightweight down comforter and a simple classic white cover from Brooklinen. I am very happy with the price and quality. In my books, one can never have too many comforters.
I thought all solar lights were the same until now. I snapped up these hanging solar mason jar fairy lights to accent our outdoor spaces and they work brilliantly. Waterproof and 30 LED…they twinkle all night long. I found them on Amazon here.
Mr. H and I have been looking for campaign chairs for our sunken fire-bowl sitting area, ones that remind of our safari days in Africa. We figure if we can’t travel, we can bring the experience to us. Mr. H spotted the Pangean Campaign Chair at Byer of Maine. We liked them so much we went back and ordered two Campaign Roll Top Tables for entertaining. You can fold them up and take them wherever you go. Very clever! We added the Cottage Cot Bed for summer sleeping on our porch. I can’t wait to try it out!
We have been on the lookout for a solid, classic wooden market umbrella and we found it in the Safari Center Pole Umbrella from Woodline at Decor Interiors. Made in South Africa, the center pole is made from eucalyptus. We selected the 10’ square umbrella in a natural sunbrella canvas giving us plenty of room to place two lounge chairs underneath. We bought the square metal base (it’s heavy!) with wheels to move the umbrellas as needed. It arrived yesterday with a fantastic nylon cover for storage. Day one and I give it a thumbs up all the way around. We look forward to many shaded afternoons under it.
Lastly, where would we be with a little flower inspiration and this book A Year in Flowers from Floret’s Farm has it in spades. It is a fabulous book!
You would think I would be spending all my time sitting and laying about by the twinkling fairly lights. I wish! One day I will and I will have plenty of options of where to sit and or lounge…with a puppy by my side. :))
Postcard’s cometh!
It’s finally happening! I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to respond to my postcard request. I am always delighted to see so many who enjoy the good old fashioned pace of snail mail. I also asked which of the ten photos in my last post you liked best. A big ask! The responses were phenomenal! I picked the top three, printed them and am earnestly writing away. I can’t promise you will be able to read my handwriting (it is a tad messy) but hopefully, they will bring a little sunshine to your day.
Fingers crossed I haven’t missed anyone! If you you want to add your name to the mailing list or just help me with an extra check next to your name, you can leave a message below or write to me.
Speaking of sunshine….
I had ‘Tani duty’ this morning which means I got the 5:00am puppy wake up call. As Tani and I strolled out to greet the new day, I caught this photo of the sun coming up over the mountain. This little puppy of 4.5 months just makes me smile, day after day. :))
Tani and I wish you a wonderful weekend….hoping that it is everything you wish it to be. You can think of us, Tani frolicking in the meadows, licking toads…and me….chasing behind in my garden apron and linen shirt (plus pants), wearing my Sabah shoes….while Mr. H lounges under the Safari umbrella with an eye to his campaign chairs.
Happy Weekend!
Jeanne and Tani xx
