Wrapping with love...
The gifts …
So…I am not sure who had more fun with my recent surprise giveaway, the recipient or me! I think me.
I enjoy wrapping gifts in brown paper and string, it’s simple and uncomplicated…and allows you to embellish at will. Based on the number of packages above you might think there were more than five winners. Nope, just five. And boy did I have fun.
To enter the giveaway you had to answer five questions related to Books, Peace, Learning, Dreams and Travel. I tried my best to select a gift from my stash that best fit each answer.
Each winner received a book, a journal filled with inspiration, an art card, and another item that best matched their interests. I have to admit, I was so excited with the wrapping that I forgot to photograph the gifts.
A few of the items..
For the Readers: A Well-Gardened Mind by Sue Stuart Smith; An Elephant in My Kitchen by Francoise Malby Anthony; Dinner In French by Melissa Clark and The Making of Home by Judith Flanders.
For the Artists: watercolor sketches, watercolor pencils, sketch book
For the Writers: a journal filled with inspirations from my collection of postcards with a writing pen to get started.
For the Dreamers: a set of linen pillowcases from a local shop and one of my all time favorites, Thyme Frasier Fir candles
For the Cooks: a linen tea towel from a local shop and cocktail napkins from Vietnam
The wrapping…
Mr H. and our puppy, Tani, had a hand and paw in this as well. We all went into the woods one afternoon and did our own little scavenger hunt for pinecones, wood with lichen, pine needles, maple leaves and birch bark.
I tucked and nipped and tied them all into brown paper packages, bundled them up and sent them on their way. It was pure joy, each and every one. Simple as simple can be.
Threading thoughts…
I have taken all this good karma into the woods with Tani to build a little winter habitat for furry friends. It also is there to remind me of our days living in England when I would set off into the woods and come across similar creations. Every stick I weave into another, feels like a word, a thought, a thread to something I am thinking about. The challenge is to outsmart Tani who feel it is his mission to take away what I have added. It is his own version of Jenga. Each day I look forward to spending time adding a few more sticks and I already have my sites on new locations. Tani will be very busy!
Signing off with stick in hand from the woods of New Hampshire.
Best wishes for a lovely day!
